Eevee is the only Pokemon in Pokemon Go that can evolve into multiple, different Pokemon. As of the first version of Pokemon Go, Eevee evolutions include Flareon, Jolteon, or Vaporeon. There are several theories regarding which evolution your Eevee will turn into, but only one Eevee evolution cheat works.
How are Eevee evolutions decided in Pokemon Go?
One method of making Eevee evolve, the Eevee nickname cheat, into your preferred form has been confirmed. There are a number of other theories about how to evolve Eevee that are, at best, unconfirmed, and at worst completely untrue.
Confirmed Eevee Name Evolution Method
In the original Pokemon TV show, Ash first encounters Eevee’s evolutions in episode 40. Vaporeon, Flareon, and Jolteon are owned by three brothers who are pressuring their youngest brother to choose a final form for his Eevee.
The brothers’ names are Sparky, Rainer, and Pyro. Some clever users have discovered that if you make your Eevee nicknamed one of these three names before you evolve it, you can choose its final form.
If you change the Eevee name to Sparky, you will get Jolteon; Rainer will get Vaporeon and Pyro will get Flareon.
There are some caveats to this Eevee name evolution hack: if you already have one of the final evolutions, it seems that you cannot force the evolution of a second. So, if you have Vaporeon and you evolve another Eevee named Rainer, you won’t necessarily get Vaporeon.
Also, due to server issues, it’s suggested that you nickname your Eevee then fully quit out of Pokemon Go before evolving it. Make sure that when you reopen the app, the nickname has saved properly.
Theories of Pokemon Go Eevee Evolutions
Several players have tried to find other patterns in Eevee evolutions. Some players have come up with the theory that Eevee’s evolutions will depend on what team you are on. For example – if you are on the red team your Eevee will evolve into Flareon. If you are on the yellow team you will evolve into Jolteon. If you are on the blue team you will evolve into Vaporeon.
Another theory is that your Eevee will evolve depending on which special attack your Eevee has – body slam, swift, or dig. The theory is that if you have an Eevee with the special attack body slam, it will evolve into Jolteon. Dig will evolve into Vaporeon, and swift will evolve into Flareon.
Pokemon Go relies on a Stardust and Candy evolution system. In order to evolve Eevee, you need 25 Eevee candies. Players collect more of the same candy when they catch a Pokemon they have already caught.
Eevee Evolution State
So to get Eevee to the next evolution state you will need to collect more Eevee candies by catching multiple Eevees repeatedly. This shouldn’t be too difficult as Eevee is a popular Pokemon in Pokemon Go that you will encounter quite frequently.
You will have to repeat the process of catching Eevees and evolving them in order to collect all three of Eevee’s evolved states – Flareon, Jolteon, or Vaporeon. You may get multiple Flareon in a row, so you will have to play until you get all three evolutions. Or you may get lucky and get all three Eevee evolutions on your first try!
Umbreon and Espeon Pokemon Go Evolutions
Espeon is a Psychic Pokemon and Umbreon is a Dark Type. These two types of Pokemon are very valuable in fights and gym battles. Dark and Psychic type Pokemon are unaffected or only slightly affected by many types of moves. Additionally, Dark and Psychic moves often do extreme damage to opponents. It’s clear why people are excited about the possibility of getting one of these Pokemon.
Right now, there is no word on the availability of Generation 2 Pokemon in Pokemon Go. There will likely be a trick or cheat to receive the Umbreon or Espeon of your dreams once they are available. Check back here when Generation 2 is released to find out how to get Umbreon and Espeon in Pokemon Go!
