Whats new in Pokemon X and Y? Pokemon X and Pokemon Y introduce many new gameplay features and changes to enhance your Pokemon experience! Specifically, the three most important changes in Pokemon X and Y are Mega Evolution, Super Training, and Pokemon Amie.
Mega evolution
New in Pokemon Y is the ability for certain pokemon to Mega Evolve. Mega evolving a pokemon carries with it several bonuses for that pokemon. Mega evolving can also only happen during a battle, after which the pokemon will return back to its former state. The Mega Evolve ability in Pokemon Y can only be used by finding rare Mega Stones that are specific to the pokemon that can use it and are named after a pokemon. Then, the pokemon must hold the stone when entering a battle and have a close connection with your trainer. Several things happen when a pokemon Mega Evolves in Pokemon Y. First off, the pokemon that you Mega Evolve gain several attribute bonuses. They also may get new abilities or have their type change. There are also version-specific Mega Evolutions for certain pokemon.
Super Training
Another new feature in Pokemon Y is Super Training. Super Training allows you increase your pokemon’s stats by participating in minigames called Super Training Regimens. This is the first time that trainers are able to affect their pokemon’s stats without simply using items. You can also collect training bags from completing Regimens, which allows Core Training for your pokemon. In Core Training, your pokemon train in the background while you play the game, allowing for a passive way to increase stats. The new stat training features in Pokemon Y allow trainers to increase stats on pokemon that normally would be lacking for a certain type. This adds a new dimension for team creation and management.
Pokemon-Amie
Pokemon-Amie is a new feature in Pokemon Y that focuses on growing the bond between trainer and pokemon. This is done using the 3DS touch screen to play minigames with your pokemon. Each pokemon has a specific way they like to pet or scratched, and by learning this and doing to your pokemon you can increase the friendliness toward you. By increasing the bond between trainer and pokemon in Pokemon Y, your pokemon can exhibit positive characteristics. They will gain various bonuses during battles, the listed example being harder to hit as well as more likely to land a critical strike.
