Playing Pokemon Go drains your battery big time.
So, what are the ways to save your battery while playing Pokemon Go?
First, turn on your battery saver in the Pokemon Go game. Turn off the music and sound effects, as these can also drain battery and data. Once you encounter a Pokemon, turn off the Augmented Reality (AR) button. You should also turn down your screen brightness to as low as you can still see the screen. You can also try taking your Google Maps area offline to conserve battery and data. If your Bluetooth is on, turn it off. If you're using data anyway, turn off your WiFi. Turn off any other apps that are running. Part of saving your Pokemon Go battery life is about minimizing your use of other apps while using Pokemon Go. Turn off all your other apps and check in settings to make sure that they are not running in the background. All of these methods should help you save your battery while playing Pokemon Go. If you're really worried about battery life, consider getting an external battery. A pack like this is cheap and works for both Androids and iPhones. You could also get a battery case, like this one for iPhones or this for a Galaxy S6. You should also check out our post on how to use less data while playing Pokemon Go.
Other Methods to Save Pokemon Go Battery Life
Once you have battery saver mode turned on in Pokemon Go, try to walk primarily with your phone by your side so that the screen saver turns on. If you know where Pokestops in your area are, pick up your phone when you approach. Your phone will vibrate when Pokemon appear, so you don't need to have the screen on at all times. Unfortunately, Pokemon Go does not pick up your steps or location unless the app is actually open on your phone. So, you'll need to have it at least open while you're walking to hatch eggs and find Pokemon and Pokestops. If you use the tricks we've shared, you'll be able to at least minimize your battery loss by saving your Pokemon Go battery life.
