Santalune Forest is host to a number of common as well as rare Pokémon, and the player should spend some time here catching them (especially the elemental types). Santalune Forest connects to Route 2 to the South and Route 3 to the North.

Tips

Capture the three elemental Pokémon: Pikachu, Pansage, Pansear, and Panpour. Having a wide variety of elemental Pokémon early on will increase your diversity for handling the various types of opponent Pokémon you will encounter. Also consider capturing Caterpie and/or Scatterbug, as their final forms come soon and contain Psychic-type moves.
