What is Wonder Trade?

Wonder Trading is one of the greatest new features introduced in Pokemon X & Y. Basically, you put any Pokemon you want up for trade and Wonder Trade connects you with a random player around the world. What you receive in return is a always a surprise! You can receive all kinds of Pokemon through this system, at any level, from any country in the world. This makes Wonder Trading a great way to assemble a new team when you are starting the game, build up your Pokedex and collect version specific Pokemon.

Why Should I Wonder Trade?

Wonder Trading is fun and addictive, but why else should you do it? There are a number of ways that Wonder Trade helps you beat Pokemon X & Y faster:

1. Helps you assemble a better, higher-level team faster when you are just starting out 2. Helps you collect new and rare Pokemon and fill out your Pokedex very quickly 3. Helps you acquire Pokemon from foreign countries, which gives you a better chance of breeding Shiny Pokemon from  them

How Do I Wonder Trade?

Follow the steps below to successfully perform a Wonder Trade. 1. Press the L or R button on the top of your 3DS until you get to the Player Search System (PSS) page: 2. Press the icon next to the Wifi icon. From that screen, look for the Wonder Trade button. (If you don't see it, press the arrow button to scroll across the menu until you find it.) 3. If you are not already connected to the internet, it will ask you if it is OK to connect. Press Yes. It will also ask you to save the game. 4. Press Yes when it asks you to start a Wonder Trade. You should see a screen that shows the Pokemon you have on hand and in your PC. Select the Pokemon you want to trade. 5. That’s it! Wonder Trade will search for a trade partner and exchange your Pokemon with one another. Enjoy!

Is Wonder Trading Safe?

Yes. There is no cost to Wonder Trade. It is your choice which Pokemon you want to give up and you can continue Wonder Trading until you get a Pokemon you want.

Wonder Trading Etiquette

Now that you know all about Wonder Trading and have hopefully tried a couple trades, here are a few simple tips we recommend to make it a great experience for everyone:

1. Unless you are a new player starting out, try to avoid trading extremely common low-level Pokemon like Bidoof and Fletchling. 2. If you have Exp. Share and have a common Pokemon you want to trade that evolves at a low level, take 5 minutes to level it up. This is great for pokemon like Scatterbug that are much more desirable when evolved into Vivillon at level 10. 3. If you are trying to breed the perfect Pokemon, Wonder Trade is great for disposing of extras you don’t want. 4. If you are restarting your Pokemon game, consider putting your high-level, rare, legendary and starter Pokemon on Wonder Trade. You’ll make someone else very happy!
